With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our beloved wife, mom, nana, sister and friend. On February 6, 2026, Birdie passed away with her loving family by her side.
Birdie was born on June 14. 1951, in Ituna Saskatchewan, to Victor and Frances Pisiak, the oldest of five girls. From a young age she carried the strength, leadership, and nurturing spirit that would define her life.
Throughout the years Birdie wore many hats. In 1997 she moved to the Valley and began working alongside Garry on the farm in the PMU operation – work that Garry often said she did was equal to that of three men. In August of 2002 she married her best friend and partner in crime Garry. Together they built a life filled with hard work, laughter and deep love.
Birdie became known far and wide for her incredible gift in the kitchen. She could whip up a delicious meal at any time – whether it was for her family around the table or for a large shindig. Her soups were a family favorite, always made and measured with her heart. Getting a recipe from her was nearly impossible, as it was never made quite the same twice. Her famous cheese potatoes were talked about everywhere she went.
When she wasn’t cooking or canning Birdie could be found tending to her large garden and raspberry patch, picking mushrooms and various berries, or caring for her chickens. She took immense pride in her yard, lovingly maintaining her beautiful flowers and her amazing fishpond. Her home and yard were reflections of the care and dedication she poured into everything she did.
Above all, raising her three daughters was one of her proudest accomplishments. She was a devoted and loving mother whose strength, guidance and unconditional love shaped the lives of her girls. Becoming a Nana brought her immeasurable joy and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a proud nana who loved to spend time with them and cheer them on at whatever they did.
Birdie’s legacy is one of hard work, generosity, laughter and love. She leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever and a family who will carry her spirit with them always.
She is survived by her loving husband Garry, her daughters Lana (Jason) & their children – Jordan & Tessa (Hazey, River), Logan & Kelsey (Elody), Jackson & Gabby
Jody (Marlo) & their children – Paige & Kyle (Scottie), Maddy & Klint, Peyton & Kenadie
Kasey (Daryl) & their children – Leo & Vlada, Natasha & Ben, Benjamin
