Shirley Ann (Klekta) Jeffrey

Shirley Jeffrey of Swan Valley passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on February 20th, 2026 at the age of 76.

Shirley was born on October 4th, 1949, to Adam and Clara Klekta. She was raised in the Swan River Valley, the community she would always call home. In 1963, she welcomed her sister, Beverly.

On August 12th, 1972, Shirley married Gary Jeffrey. Together they built a life rooted in hard work and family. For many years, Shirley traveled alongside Gary throughout Western Canada and NWT.

After 15 years of marriage, they decided to start a family and were blessed with their son, Merlin, in 1987, and their daughter, Alyson, in 1991.

Shirley was a devoted wife and mother whose world revolved around her family. Vacations were often wherever Gary was working at the time.

A hardworking and dedicated woman, Shirley spent 18 years as a cashier for Extra Foods, where she truly enjoyed meeting and talking with people. She was also a meticulous bookkeeper for many years, managing the books for the business, farm and family.

Shirley will be missed by her husband Gary, her son Merlin, and her daughter Alyson. She is also survived by her sister Bev (Larry TerHorst), sister-in-law’s Marie (George Kilbrai), Faye Jeffrey, Aunt Lil Paddock, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Shirley’s life was one of quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and deep love for her family. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered. The Jeffrey family associated with the Swan River Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.
